Many people are of the opinion that dogs are color blind. This is not true at all. When you’re trying to find out more about how the dog sees the world, you would realize that it is much more different than how we see the world. However, that does not mean that they are colour blind. We would today go into the vision details of the dog in order to answer the question what do dogs see.
If you look into the retina of the dog, you would realize that it would be consisting of fewer cones. However, when you’re looking at the number of rods, they are certainly more. You need to understand that the cones in the retina are directly responsible for the color perception. Due to this very reason, the way in which the dog perceive the color would be entirely different.
If you look into the vision of the dog, it can be called is dichromatic. Due to this very reason, the primary color which the dog would be able to see would be only blue or yellow. What do dogs see
Dogs are able to see in low light conditions much more effectively as compared to humans. Even during the evening, they would be able to see much more clearly as compared to us.
This is due to the fact that their eyes are designed to reflect more light as compared to ours.
3. Detecting the movement:
The dog is much better at detecting movement from a greater distance.
With the help of the movement, they are also able to know what is the subject and who is moving.
That is why they are able to sense their owners from a pretty long distance. One of the main reasons that dogs are often used as guarding animals is because they can detect activity or any kind of movement from a great distance quite easily. When you combine this with the acute sense of smell, you can be sure that they would be able to detect anyone from quite a bit of distance.
4. Focusing power:
The focusing power of the dog is a bit less as compared to humans.
Even though they would be able to detect movement or see colors but they would not be able to focus on them.
So, the vision of the dog is much different as compared to the vision of us humans but that does not mean that they are not able to detect the movement or detect the colors. It simply means, that they see in an entirely different fashion . What do dogs see.
